Your questions

What is digital technology?

Digital technology includes computers, the internet, mobile phones, digital television and radio, and digital cameras. We want to help people benefit from these technologies.

What is digital inclusion?

More and more people are benefiting from digital technology. However, some people are getting left behind because they can’t get access to it, don’t have the skills, or don’t see the point. Digital inclusion means making sure no one is excluded from using digital technology.

Why is digital inclusion important?

Getting more people in Wales to use technology has some important benefits.

For individuals, it means they can keep in touch with friends and family, gain employment skills, get access to government services, find information and search for cheaper products and services. For people with disabilities, on low incomes or cut off from society, it can open a whole new world of opportunities.

For groups and businesses, it can help them run more efficiently, share information and attract new members or customers.

For Wales generally, we need people with ICT skills to contribute to a vibrant economy and the regeneration of our communities. By building our confidence and skills with technology, we’ll be better equipped as a nation.
